THE USE OF CODE MIXING ON INSTAGRAM BY THE STUDENTS OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE EDUCATION

This study aimed at analyzing the use of code mixing on Instagram by students English Language Education Department which covered types and reasons using mixing. The design this was descriptive qualitative only focused describing Indonesian-English used ELE students. participants were fourth semester Ganesha University Education. data collected observing participants’ account interviewing through Google Form. analyzed combination some theories. Hoffman, Ho, Muysken’s theories combined to analyze Meanwhile, reason mixing, Hocket, Saville-Troike’s used. result showed that most intra-sentential type with 107 occurrences (56%) from total 191 data. also need filling motive mostly chosen 21 (43,8%) out 48 participants.
